The Epever app for Android and iPhone: a better alternative to Solar Guardian
Solar Guardian is Epever's official app. Many owners want an app that connects reliably and does more for their battery: here is why, and what OmniViz Solar does better.
Why owners look for another Epever app
Reading the public store reviews of Epever's app, the same complaints come back again and again:
- Connection problems: the adapter is found but the app will not connect, or connects only some of the time.
- An account to create, with verification codes that do not always arrive.
- Languages: many users ask for the app in their own language.
- Older adapters that newer app versions no longer find.
- Settings changes that time out, and statistics that disappeared after an update.
What OmniViz Solar does better
- No account, no cloud: install it, connect over Bluetooth, done. It works offline, and your data stays on your phone.
- 14 languages: English, Français, Deutsch, Čeština, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Português, Polski, Русский, 中文, 日本語, हिन्दी and العربية.
- Clear at a glance: a battery gauge with the real charge or discharge and the time until empty, and a live energy flow. More
- Daily history with solar and battery curves for every day, an event log and CSV export. More
- Alerts for low battery, low voltage, high temperature and panels not producing. More
- Simple or Expert mode, load control with light and timer modes, and a Solar Panel Wizard to aim your panels.
- Your controllers by name: the app recognises the controller model, and you can give each adapter a name you will recognise.
- A full demo mode to try every screen before connecting anything.
Better battery presets
Epever's own lithium defaults are derived from lead-acid values: a 13.3 V float on a 12 V battery, for example. OmniViz Solar comes with 18 presets: LiFePO4 and Li-NMC at 12, 24 and 48 V, sealed/AGM, GEL and flooded lead-acid. The LiFePO4 presets were worked out for a real 300 Ah LiFePO4 battery from Epever's lithium rules and the battery maker's specifications, then scaled for 24 and 48 V. The lead-acid presets keep Epever's factory values. Why each voltage: our LiFePO4 settings guide.
Presets you can customize
- Start from any preset: make a new profile from it, give it your battery's name and capacity, and keep one profile per battery or per vehicle.
- Start from what your controller already has: read the controller's current settings and save them as a profile in one tap. Use it as the base for your own preset, or keep it as a record of a setup that works.
- Edit every value in Expert mode: the twelve voltage thresholds, the boost and equalize times and the temperature limits, each checked against Epever's rules as you type, so the controller does not reject them.
- Stay safe in Simple mode: only validated presets can be sent, and you only change the name and the capacity.
Every write checked, and easy to undo
Before writing, the app reads the controller, shows every value that will change, from the old value to the new one, and saves a backup. It writes the voltages in one block, the way Epever's own app does, then reads them back and tells you whether the controller applied them. Restore previous settings puts the backup back. More
Android and iPhone
OmniViz Solar runs on Android phones and on iPhone (iOS 15 or later). It is currently in testing: you can join the test for free, with your controller or in demo mode.
Which Epever controllers?
Epever MPPT charge controllers with the Epever Bluetooth adapter, tested on the XTRA-N series. Other Epever models such as Tracer AN or Triron use the same protocol and should work.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an Epever app for iPhone?
Yes. Besides Epever's own app, OmniViz Solar runs on iPhone (iOS 15 or later) and on Android.
Do I need Solar Guardian to use my Epever controller?
No. OmniViz Solar talks to the controller directly over Bluetooth, without Solar Guardian and without an account.
Can I copy the settings already in my controller?
Yes. In Expert mode, read the controller settings and tap Save as profile: the values become a profile you can edit and send back later.
Which battery presets are included?
18 presets: LiFePO4 and Li-NMC at 12, 24 and 48 V, sealed/AGM, GEL and flooded lead-acid. You can start a custom profile from any of them.
Is OmniViz Solar free?
It is free during the test. At launch: a free demo and free basic monitoring, and a one-time €14.99 for the full version, with no subscription.
Is OmniViz Solar an official Epever app?
No. It is an independent app by OmniViz Studio that works with Epever controllers.
