FAQ

Questions and answers

Everything you might want to know before trying OmniViz Solar. Another question? Write to info@omniviz.studio.

Which controllers and adapters work?

Epever MPPT charge controllers with the Epever Bluetooth adapter (HN_ series, plugged into the RJ45 port). We test on the XTRA-N series; other Epever models such as Tracer AN or Triron use the same protocol and should work. Tell us your model when you sign up as a tester.

Do I need an account or Solar Guardian?

No. OmniViz Solar connects directly to the controller over Bluetooth. There is no account, no sign-up and no verification code, and you don't need Solar Guardian.

Does it work without internet?

Yes, completely. Everything happens between your phone and the controller, so it works in the middle of nowhere.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere. Readings, history and settings stay on your phone. The app has no cloud and sends nothing to us. See our privacy policy.

Which languages does it speak?

14: English, Français, Deutsch, Čeština, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Português, Polski, Русский, 中文, 日本語, हिन्दी and العربية.

Android or iPhone?

Both. Android is in a closed test on Google Play, iPhone in TestFlight. Join through the tester page.

How much does it cost?

Free during the test. At launch: a free demo and free basic monitoring (battery gauge and energy flow); the full version is a one-time €14.99, with no subscription.

Can it damage my controller or battery?

Every change goes through the same safety steps: the app reads the current settings, shows you each change, saves a backup, checks Epever's voltage rules, writes, then reads everything back to confirm. You can restore the previous settings in one tap. In Simple mode, only validated presets can be sent.

Is the Epever Bluetooth connection secure?

Not very, and that is Epever's design: their Bluetooth adapter has no password, so anyone within about 10 metres with a compatible app can connect while your phone is not connected. Only one phone can connect at a time. If you park somewhere busy and it worries you, unplug the adapter when you don't use it.

What is the Solar Panel Wizard?

A sun-tracking assistant: lay your phone on a tilting panel and it shows how to aim it for the best yield today or for the coming weeks, and how much a flat roof panel loses compared with the best angle.

What is OmniViz Inverter?

A small sensor, coming soon, that measures what your inverter and other loads wired straight to the battery draw. The app then shows your true consumption and an exact time until empty. Learn more.
